On September 16, at least 11 children were killed during military airstrikes and reckless firing by warplanes on civilian’s residences including a school in Tabayin Township, Sagaing Division. At least 15 children from the attacked school have also gone missing. UNICEF made a statement sharing its condolences with the parents and family members who lost their children and is requesting the immediate safe release of the children.

However, in UNICEF's statement, they did not criticize the military council troops who attacked the school and civilians. This has triggered the people’s sentiment. The people criticized UNICEF's statement and have requested that they condemn the military’s brutal actions. One commentator questioned, “Has UNICEF become the military’s supporter that they didn’t dare to mention the killers?”

UNICEF’s statement angers the public

Let’s pray for the families who lost their loved children. Pray that God will comfort their hearts in their grief and frustration. Pray that God will establish justice and peace soon in this country. Pray also that UNICEF and other international organizations may have courage to stand with the people of Myanmar in their endeavor against injustice and dictatorship. 

A Palaung woman named Ke Ti Win has been a real estate agent. She worships the different types of spirits and worked hard but never earned a big sum of profits from her business. Instead, she suffers from terminal sickness and she could no longer do the business. Gradually, her relationship with her husband deteriorates year after year. Finally, she was divorced and left without hope and in great depression.

Out of frustration in her life, she gave up everything in her life including the spirits shrines. She stops worshiping them because he has discovered through her life that the spirits cannot help her business or relationship.

One day some of our evangelists met her and told her about Jesus Christ. They challenged her to taste Jesus Christ for a whole month and see He is real. She accepted the challenge and did one whole month testing Jesus Christ by reading the Bible and calling Him. After twenty days, miracles start happening in her life. Two third of her sickness is healed miraculously. She began to join the church fellowship and experienced warmth fellowship and friendships. She said, “I have never experienced such a warmth fellowship in my life”. As she attends the church and fellowship meetings, the spirits are not happy. They came and disturbed her every night with many kinds of terrible noises. So, she decided to accept Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord by taking baptism. While the pastor was sharing about the meaning of baptism, the evil spirit manifested from her twice. The pastor casted out the demons out of her and she was released from the spirits. After she took baptism, she said, “I feel light and free from many burdens.”

Today, she worships Jesus Christ and enjoy freedom from sickness and evil spirits. Praise the Lord for his mercy and power to deliver this woman from her miserable life.

33 million people have been affected by the recent monster monsoon in Pakistan. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports, as of September 8th, almost 1,400 fatalities and more than 12,700 injuries. In addition, 660,000 people are in relief camps and one-third of the country is under water. Following the floods, the authorities warned it could take up to six months for deadly flood waters to recede in the country’s hardest hit areas (Sindh and Balochistan Province) and fears rise over the threat posed by waterborne diseases including cholera and dengue

Pray that the flood water may recede and for a return to a normal weather cycle.

Pray for the people affected by the floods. Pray that God will draw near to them and comfort them in this time of grief. Pray for God’s strength to endure this difficult time. 

Pray that God will provide shelter, food and safe drinking water and prevent water borne diseases or sickness. Pray that the world leaders and influential people will have a heart to help tackle the environmental crisis

The military tore down over 3,000 houses, forcing about 10,000 civilians into homeless with only two days' notice in TarWah New Ward (Sanpya Village), Thanlyin, Yangon division. The families settled here legally with the Smart Card issued by the previous civilian NLD government. (10) soldiers with over (20) people who were dressed as civilians came and dismantled the settlements with two Bulldozers. They also beat and arrested the villagers who were recording the tragic scenes with their mobile phones. The military has been destroying many Smart Card (legal) settlements across Yangon, Mandalay, Mon State and Sagaing Division providing only a short notice and no explanations as to why.

 Moreover, last week, during the four days-fightings between People’s Defense Forces and the Military in Moe Bye township, many of the Military soldiers were killed and arrested by the People’s Defense Forces. Then, the Military shot with heavy weaponry and destroyed roughly 100 civilian houses adding more refugees to existing IDPs. The local news reported there are severe food and medicine shortages among the refugee families in this region. These recent incidents have forced thousands of families into homelessness overnight.

For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.

 Let’s pray for the families whose homes were destroyed that they will find a new and better place to settle, a place to make new homes in safety and peace.

Pray that the people will understand that even though their earthly home is temporary, but their home in Heaven is eternal, a place where there will be no sorrow, injustice and pain.

Pray for the refugee families in the region that God will provide their needs through miraculous ways like Jesus fed the multitudes with a few loaves and fishes.
