Tens of thousands of Rohingyas refugees in Bangladesh rallied demonstrations on Sunday, ahead of World Refugee Day on Monday, demanding return back to Myanmar, where they fled a brutal military suppression five years ago.

Almost a million of a million Rohingyas are confined to bamboo and tarpaulin huts in 34 dirty camps in southeast Bangladesh, with no work, poor sanitation and little access to education. Some of these people suffered devastating fires effecting thousands families in the camps.

Myanmar’s previous repatriation attempts have failed as Rohingyas refused to go home until they receive guarantees of rights and security. Today, the Rohingyas demand for repatriation with full rights restored. They want to go home to their previous places in Rakhine state and not to the camps Myanmar’s government has built for the community.

Let’s pray that God would reveal His plan for the Rohingyas and give them hope and a future.

He does not ignore the cries of the afflicted

In the Bible, James encouraged us to put our faith at work with actions. He asks if you just say to the needy persons “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? James 2:16-17 

Like the early believers throughout the Roman world sent their donations to the believers suffering in Jerusalem, the Body of Christ across the nations sent their prayers and donations to the churches in Myanmar. Some time after the coup, helping the neediest people became a risk due to political unrest. There are great challenges still today.

 Amidst this situation, the good works are still happening. One of our ministry partners has been reaching to the neediest people whenever they receive resources from friends around the world. Many are blessed the acts of kindness and able to taste the love of Christ.

Jesus said, “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”

One of our missionaries in the Mandalay region encountered a form of false teachings, the heretic, in his church. The Heretic is the person who teaches what blatantly contradicts an essential teaching of the Christian faith and it is the most prominent and perhaps the most dangerous of the false teachings. This heretic was spreading the false teaching about Jesus, manipulating His natures. The heretic taught the church members that believing Jesus cannot save you from sin for he is human and weak; but one must believe in Christ to be saved, thus dividing Jesus Christ into two different persons. The missionary encountered this heretic quickly and save the members from his teaching. However, unfortunately, a few already followed him leaving the church. There are other false teachings invading the church in Myanmar that the body of Christ are staying alert more than ever.

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.”

Let’s pray for this missionary and other church leaders that they will protect their congregations from false teaching by equipping them with the sound doctrines of the Bible.

One missionary from our ministry partner in Rakhine state is going to plant 2000 Mahogany trees at an IDP Camp in Pauk Taw Township. This missionary used some of his talents and made manure by himself for the small plants to grow. He is doing all these for the local people he never knew before yet to whom Jesus loves. Let’s pray for this missionary and his family. Please pray that God will use him to plant the seed of love, peace and equality in the hearts of people in Rakhine state. 

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
